Romy & Abby Venegas

Founders of Terra Botanicals

Terra Botanical Studio is small, family-owned plant shop that started in a pretty simple way—with a table full of succulents at our local farmers market in the spring of 2019. At the time, it was just something we loved doing: sharing plants, meeting people, and being part of the community. What we didn’t expect was how quickly it would grow into something more.

Over time, with the support of so many kind and enthusiastic plant lovers, those weekend markets turned into regular pop-ups, then bigger opportunities, and eventually the chance to open our own storefront in May 2023. That step felt like a big milestone for us—not just as a business, but as a family. It gave us a place to create something steady and welcoming, where people could come in, ask questions, and feel comfortable whether they were experienced with plants or just starting out.

The shop is run by Romeila and her daughter Abby, and being able to build this together has been one of the most meaningful parts of the journey. We’ve learned as we’ve gone, figuring things out through experience, trial and error, and a lot of conversations with customers. That’s part of what shapes how we approach what we do now—we try to keep things approachable, honest, and helpful.

What we enjoy most is the connection that comes with it. Helping someone pick out their first plant, finding something that fits just right in their home, or hearing that a plant they bought is still doing well months later—it all adds up. Plants can feel intimidating at first, so we like being able to break things down in a way that makes people feel more confident taking care of them.

"At the end of the day, this shop is really about sharing something we care about and creating a space that feels relaxed and welcoming. Whether someone stops by to browse, ask questions, or just spend a little time around plants, we’re always glad to have them."
