Montana Stovall

8th generation Texas Farmer & Conundrum Farm Manager

Montana is a single dad to three incredible kids—Malakai, Indigo, and his mini-me, Amelie, who already has a green thumb like her dad. As a father, he has found no greater joy than watching as his kids learn to grow food that not only nourishes, but teaches them about leadership, free thinking and helping our planet by creating less waste, minimizing energy and empowering our community.

Montana's interest in teaching began in 2011 when the local elementary school children toured the farm he  managed in Oxford, MS. Upon returning to Texas, he continued this work and discovered that teaching about growing food to create sustainability for our community is a big part of what he was made to do.

Montana grew up working summers on his family's 2,100-acre grain farm in the Texas Panhandle—moving irrigation pipe, baling alfalfa, and planting soybeans. His mom’s one-acre garden sparked his love for growing, even if he got in trouble for taste-testing every tomato before they were ready... 🍅 (Yes, he took one bite out of every tomato in the entire bowl meant for salsa. Sorry, Mom.)

Montana is passionate about helping backyard growers and new farmers thrive. You can learn directly from him this spring at the farm!

"When I’m not farming or teaching, you’ll find me playing disc golf, fishing, hiking, or talking shop with my fellow farmers. Because we need more farmers on every corner."
